farm bill pesticide

How Might the Proposed House Farm Bill Harm the Public?

The proposed House Farm Bill poses serious risks to public health and safety. Two key provisions stand out:

  1. Liability Protections for Pesticide Makers: The bill also shields pesticide companies from being held accountable when their products harm people, animals, or the environment. By limiting liability, it becomes harder for individuals or communities to seek justice when pesticides cause serious health issues, contaminate drinking water, or damage ecosystems.
  2. Preemption of Local Authority: The bill would strip local governments of the power to regulate the use of toxic pesticides in their communities. This means towns and cities would no longer be able to ban or restrict harmful chemicals in public spaces like parks, playgrounds, and schools, even if residents strongly oppose their use. Local leaders understand their community’s needs best, and this bill would silence their ability to act in the public’s interest.

If passed, the bill would prioritize corporate profits over public health, leaving communities vulnerable to harmful chemicals without the power to protect themselves or hold manufacturers accountable.

These letters are just templates and can be personalized and adjusted how you see fit. We do recommend keeping in mind to communicate respectively and from the heart.
